The Will of Henry Hunnisett,
yeoman of Chatham

This is the last will and testament of me Henry Hunnisett of Luton in the Parish of Chatham in the County of Kent Yeoman I desire that all my just debts and my funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as shall be convenient after my decease

I give and devise unto my son Henry Hunnisett all such part of the piece of land called Webbs piece situate on the Beacon Hill in the Parish of Chatham aforesaid as he rents of me and on some part of which he has erected five cottages and also all that cottage situate on the Beacon Hill aforesaid now or late in the occupation of ??? Brattle To hold the said several hereditaments with their appurtenances unto and to the use of him my said son Henry Hunnisett his heirs and assigns for ever

I give and devise unto my son Richard Hunnisett All that messuage or dwellinghouse erected by him together with the garden and appurtenances occupied therewith situate and being upon the Beacon hill aforesaid and also all that flint built dwellinghouse with the garden and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate on the South or South East of the last mentioned hereditaments To hold the said several last mentioned hereditaments with the appurtenances unto and to the use of him my said son Richard Hunnisett his heirs and assigns for ever

I give and devise All that piece of land called the Beacon piece situate lying and being upon the Beacon Hill aforesaid and also All that my cottage called Grandmothers House with the appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situate and being upon Beacon Hill aforesaid unto my said son Richard Hunnisett To hold the said last mentioned hereditaments with the appurtenances unto and to the use of him my said son Richard Hunnisett and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life and from and immediately after his decease I give and devise the said piece of land and cottage with their respective appurtenances unto all and every the child and children of him my said son Richard Hunnisett as well daughters as sons in equal shares and proportions and to their respective heirs and assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

I give and devise all those my one other flint built dwellinghouse and two of my brick built dwellinghouses with the appurtenances thereunto respectively belonging situate and being upon Beacon Hill aforesaid and adjoining to and on the south or south east of the dwellinghouse and premises hereinbefore devised to my son Richard and also a piece of the land I now use situate on the Beacon Hill aforesaid adjoining to a piece of land hereinafter devised to my granddaughter Elizabeth Brooker and containing three rods and a half in front and rear and extending the whole depth of my land there unto my daughter Jane Drury To hold the same unto and to the use of the said Jane Drury and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the middle house of the said three dwellinghouses and the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto her son Henry Drury To hold the same unto and to the use of the said Henry Drury and his assigns for and during the term of his natural life and from and immediately after his decease I give and devise the said dwellinghouse with the appurtenances unto Henry Drury the younger son of the aforesaid Henry Drury To hold the same unto and to the use of him the said Henry Drury the Younger his heirs and assigns for ever and from and immediately after the decease of the said Jane Drury I give and devise the other two of the said three dwellinghouses and also the said piece of land unto all and every the child and children of her the said Jane Drury as well daughters as sons (including her said son Henry Drury) in equal shares and proportions and to their respective heirs and assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

I give and devise my two brick built dwellinghouses with their appurtenances situate on the Beacon Hill aforesaid on the South or South East of and adjoining to the dwellinghouses hereinbefore devised to my daughter Jane Drury for life and also a piece of land I now use situate on the Beacon Hill aforesaid adjoining to and on the South or South East of the foot-path leading to the said two dwellinghouses and containing three rods and a half in front and rear and extending the whole depth of my land there unto my said granddaughter Elizabeth Brooker To hold the same unto her the said Elizabeth Brooker and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the said two brick built dwellinghouses and the said piece of land with their respective appurtenances unto all and every the child and children (if any) of her the said Elizabeth Brooker as well daughters as sons in equal shares and proportions and to their respective heirs and assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and in case my said granddaughter Elizabeth Brooker shall die without leaving any child or children or having had any such and all of them if more than one shall die without leaving lawful issue then from and immediately after the decease of my said granddaughter and the failure of her issue as aforesaid I give and devise the said two brick built dwellinghouses and the said piece of land with their respective appurtenances unto my said sons Henry Hunnisett and Richard Hunnisett and my said daughter Jane Drury To hold the same unto and to the use of them the said Henry Hunnisett Richard Hunnisett and Jane Drury in equal shares and proportions and to their respective heirs and assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

I give and devise all that my dwellinghouse in which I now reside and my land hereditaments and premises which I now occupy and use (except the portions thereof hereinbefore devised) with the appurtenances to the same respectively belonging situate and being upon the Beacon Hill aforesaid unto Anthony West and my daughter Harriet West the wife of the said Anthony West To hold the said last mentioned hereditaments and premises with their respective appurtenances unto them the said Anthony West and Harriet West and the survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such survivor for ever

I give and bequeath all my household furniture money stock cattle goods chattels and personal estate and effects whatsoever unto my executors hereinafter named upon trust as soon as shall be convenient after my decease to convert into money all such part or parts thereof as shall not consist of money and then to divide retain and pay the whole of the moneys which shall come to their hands unto and equally between my said sons Henry Hunnisett and Richard Hunnisett my said daughter Jane Drury and my said granddaughter Elizabeth Brooker and their respective issue if any or either of them shall be then dead leaving issue in equal shares and proportions such issue to take only the share of his her or their deceased parent or ancestor

I nominate constitute and appoint my said sons Henry Hunnisett and Richard Hunnisett Executors of this my Will I revoke all and every Will and Wills by me at any time heretofore made I declare this present writing contained in four sheets of paper to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have to each of the said four sheets subscribed my hand this twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty six
